A Sad Day

I haven't posted in a few days. I had a huge BBQ on Sunday and stayed up until about 9 AM the next day. So, suffice it to say I was out almost all day yesterday. I'll get it over with now and say Michael Jackson is being buried today. I find it disgusting that news channels such as CNN are following his coffin to its final resting site. I find it even more disgusting that for the whole day, ALL they have been talking about is Michael Jackson, while there are more pressing issues in the world, like say the situation in Iran, or Obama is in Russia discussing reduction of nuclear stockpiles in the world, or that hundreds of Han Chinese armed with clubs marched through Xinjiang capital. I understand, maybe people want a break from the sad depressing news of people dying and suffering, and another reminder of the current economic state. What I can't stand however, is people profitting from this mans death. I think the memorial was enough. Just let him rest in peace and stop speculation over his life! No one will ever understand him. He was too much of a complex human being for anyone, family included, to understand him The fact that they sold tickets to a memorial event is really sad. While it was beautiful and I bawled my eyes out, I don't think paying for the memorial was right. It was very tacky actually. Also, how did the state of California pay for all that? It cost 3.5 million dollars. Aren't they experiencing the same economic crisis as everyone else. I believe they are at a deficit actually. Anyways, while I totally hated the idea of the media exploiting his death, it was actually a very touching and sad memorial. Quite a celebration of his life.

On another note, I went around town today and took a bunch of pictures (Coming Soon). I was supposed to watch Transformers today, but the show was sold out. Thus, I ended up going around the city and taking pictures, having a great lunch and watching the sun set in front of Nathan Phillips Square. Quite a lovely day. OH ANNNND I bought tickets to the Real Madrid game! SO. EXCITED.
